Urabeast Guji G1 Black Honey is a lot from the Guji region of Ethiopia, centered on the Urabeast microregion and built from cherries grown by multiple smallholder farmers. In this part of Guji, producers harvest ripe red cherry carefully and the quality of the lot depends heavily on clean picking and disciplined sorting. The name Urabeast leaves a strong impression and suits the energetic, distinctive character often associated with coffees from this area. Although the farms are small in scale, the overall quality potential is high, and that combination of careful farming and lot preparation helps create a cup with clarity, fragrance, and structure.

The defining feature of this coffee is its Black Honey process. After harvest, the cherries are sorted carefully and pulped while leaving a substantial amount of mucilage on the seed. The coffee then goes through fermentation and is dried slowly on raised beds, building sweetness and texture while keeping the profile clean and articulate. The variety is listed as heirloom selections JARC 74110 and 74112, cultivars known for expressive aromatics and elegant fruit character. That makes the process especially effective here, since it adds body and sweetness without burying the finer floral and citrus qualities of the coffee.

In the cup, lemon tea appears first, giving the coffee a soft and refined citrus brightness rather than sharp acidity. Apricot follows with a gentle stone-fruit sweetness that gives the middle of the cup a smooth, rounded feel. Earl Grey lingers in the finish, adding a bergamot-like floral citrus perfume and reinforcing the tea-like elegance of the profile. As a light roast, it should feel layered, fragrant, and polished, with black honey sweetness supporting the delicate character of Guji rather than overwhelming it.
